WTF??
Oil changes are free with new BMWs
How dumb do you have to be to not take advantage of them?

Based off of the instagram pics in the ad, I have the feeling that the owner may be a teenaged girl, who was forced to drive a 3 series by her daddy, while all of her friends had X5s.

How much do you think replacing the engine would cost? It has to be more than the price of a used 3-series when you total it up with what this person is asking for. $17k for a car that doesn't run sounds insane.

Never underestimate a BMW owner. A friend of mine who works on imports has several pictures of the engines of ruined engines from BMW's.

Are you sure it's lack of maintanence. Not saying I would do it but 25k on a single change isn't insane on a car that bmw recommends 15k. Hell bmw recommends 15k on my m and they're much more abused. (I do mine at way less then that though). My bet is hydrolock.

http://m.ebay.com/itm/3610740598… , just have to diy it. I wouldn't touch this car unless it was less then 10k.

I havent read the instagram, but my thoughts were someone that drives, & doesnt check, nor change oil. I would assume its driver error not to be covered under warranty?
several years back a guy I know had an engine blew on a 2000 Honda accord, 36 miles past warranty, & dealer and manufacture refused to help, but he had cut car up inner fenders, & suspension, to lower it on air bags, removed rear seats & put in lightweight front seats, removed all sound deadening, headliner, door panels, & just covered interior with leopard skin fabric, horrible job, & had a decent sound system. had a header, & custom exhaust with fart can. but they said because of his modifications to car, & lightening it and claimed he was racing it. he said he liked to rev it. lol. I know for a fact he also like to spin the tires alot. he told the finance company to take it back. & he walked away from it.

Wouldn't insurance cover hydrolock?

A long time ago, a friend's sister came into some money and bought a brand new '86 Cougar for her first car, which she drove until it threw a rod at around 16,000 miles. She never changed the oil; apparently no one told her it was necessary. Seriously.

Depends if they have insurance. I have the feeling they weren't the most intelligent owners. Maybe it's like that Asian atudent in Toronto that couldn't afford insurance on his lamborghini.
